FARMING

Tips for Beginners

Basics

As in every MMO, there is always plenty to farm:

  • Materials for crafting

  • Special items

  • Currency

Everything that you gather is based on your crafting level, character level and/or map

this means while your level 10 character will see level 10 nodes and plants, your level 50 character will find level 50 nodes and plants at the same location.

You should start farming materials as level 10 character, after you unlocked your daily crafting writs, more info's about that at Crafting Basics,  cause you will get surveys which lead you to X marked places on the map where you can gather a huge amount of resources at once

farming is generally only something for people that really like to spend time running around gathering stuff, for everyone else it is a pain

Tip for high frequented areas: go farm at unusual times, when everyone else sleeps if possible, late nights or in mornings, and if you want to see collectible items faster: TURN GRASS OFF in settings

Bag & Bank/ ESO plus

  • Bagspace upgrade gets very pricy soon, so we don't recommend to unlock more than 90-100 slots on each character with gold

  • IMO its a much better investment to buy a banker, if you got ESO plus save up your free crowns for that, you can access your banker from all your characters everywhere (besides PVP) and just store farmed stuff in bank and sort it out later for sale or deconstruction

  • ESO plus is generally recommended if you want to be a crafter/farmer, cause it offers unlimited material storage.

Recommended SKILLPOINTS

  • 1 point in every crafting Keen Eye, makes the materials glow and this way much better to see from far to collect and if you turn off the grass settings then they re easy to find

  • if you got skillpoints left over, use them for Hirelings which send you free materials every 24 hours per mail on each character that uses skillpoints for it

  • only for your main crafter character: max out everything at lvl50, esp for material extraction from refining and deconstructing and to use less materials for improvement

  • Swift Warrior passive to increase sprint speed

  • Cyrodiil Assault skill Rapid Maneuvers adds a speed bonus for 30 seconds

Recommended Champion points and Mundus Stone

I would only recommend to spend special CP points if you got a separate farming character:

  • 30 points into Sprinter in the Tower for faster gathering

  • 10-75 points into The Lover, 10 points grants Plentiful Harvest which doubles gathering from resources, if you have 75 points then you reduce the gathering time to 50%

  • use THE STEED Mundus Stone for bonus movement speed

Farming rounds

All maps are full of materials and everyone has his own farming technique, here are some suggestions how to farm:

Collect all surveys from all characters daily writs for about a week and then farm them all at once, while collecting every node/plant/chest/Psijic portal, just simply everything that you find on your way to them, you will be surprised how much you find to pick up around you just on the way from each wayshrine to your survey

like already suggested in the Beginners guide, never use gold to travel!

always teleport to anyone from any guild you re in, preferably in the map that you wanna go to but not necessarily, it only takes a few seconds longer, this way you might even unlock unknown wayshrines too and get experience for it too

Summerset:

  • Farm along the coasts around summerset isle for giant clams, materials and go fishing for recipes, motifs etc,

  • do geyser farm rounds for purple jewelry needed for research and furnishing mats, if you don't need them, they all sell high.

  • especially Artaeum (the separate Psijic questline island) is a very productive gathering zone, you can actually go around the whole island and find tons of materials from nodes, recipes from fishing (purple and yellow recipes for Ambrosia drop here too, as example in the little lake on top of the map near Traitor's Vault delve)

  • furniture plans farming: Traitor's Vault used to be the top address for tons of furniture recipe drops including all new Summerset recipes in wardrobe room farm, but got nerfed unfortunately, it still drops but a lot less, Direnni Akropolis is full of tons of urns, generally get used to check every ruin, insight, delve, dungeon, palace, house, etc it is always worth taking a look into wardrobes, dresser, urns, desks, nightstands etc for hidden furniture recipes

  • its recommended to unlock the Psijic skill line and gather Psijic Portals everywhere on the maps, they can drop purple motifs (Psijic) for your crafter or to sell

  • Alinor daily quests (2 NPC down the stairs opposite of the bank) for achievements and purple motifs (Sapiarch) to craft or sell

Craglorn:

  • Famous area for node farming cause you can drop the needed materials to produce nirnhoned traits with from the nodes here, if you don't need them for your craft then sell them

  • Rune nodes often drop purple or legendary runes too here but since everyone knows this, the area is highly farmed most of the time

Coldharbour:

  • Zombie farm is a very boring but very fast and effective way to level your skill lines and to drop tons of weapons and gear for deconstruction or to sell

  • Running a circle along the inner walls of the main city (Hollow City) is a very good gathering round too, but same as Craglorn already known and many farmer camp there all day long

Alik'r Desert:

  • Dolmen farm in Alik'r Desert is still the fastest and easiest farm for tons of materials and gold, there are always groups running 24/7, just type x in zone chat and you re in

Elsweyr:

  • Dragon Hunt is a great way to farm materials and furniture recipes to sell

  • or do the dailies in Northern and Southern Elsweyr

  • main questline will give you a huge free housing: the Lunar Hall of Champions and through some quests and dungeons you can unlock 3 additional zones in it!

Guildtraders:

you will earn a lot of gold while doing all the mentioned farmes above and selling recipes and motifs but if you re maybe more into making gold with trading, then the Tamriel Trade Center TTC is the best location for you

  • You need to be close to a banker and mail and keep checking the TTC permanently for cheap items that you can buy and resell, its a very time consuming hobby though but pays out if you focus on the currently most profitable items

  • Check the Luxury Vendor in Coldharbour for special items that you can sell higher at the guild traders later, those items appear only for a weekend and then might be gone for months which makes it profitable to sell them if you got the gold to buy some of them first

  • Always CHECK PRICES before you buy or sell something, this is essential

Good Luck!
